Urban Truant is an RYA Recognised Training Centre based at Hamble Point Marina on the Solent, delivering the full RYA sail scheme from Start Yachting and Competent Crew through to Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper, and MCA/RYA Yachtmaster™ Offshore prep and exams. Alongside sailing, we run RYA Powerboat courses, Motorboat training, and bespoke Own Boat Tuition tailored to your vessel and goals. Courses run with a maximum of three students per instructor, with private cabins, lifejackets, wet weather gear, and marina fees included as standard.
From the same base, we also run Sailing Course Online, our RYA-recognised online theory school. Over 50,000 students from 115+ countries have studied with us, learning through bite-sized modules, narrated animations, step-by-step chartwork walkthroughs, and clean graphics built for on-screen learning. We deliver RYA Day Skipper Theory, RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster™ Offshore Theory, SRC/VHF Marine Radio, and Essential Navigation courses, with unlimited expert support.
Our instructor team is led by RYA Yachtmaster™ Examiners and Instructor Trainers. We're trusted to train RYA and Maritime & Coastguard Agency personnel.
